The Growing Market for Cialis and the Other Anti-Impotency Pills

During the first few years it was introduced in the market, Viagra has a very huge following. Medical sales representatives were busy studying the contraindications, mechanisms of action, dosage and other information about the blue-diamond pill created by Pfizer. Urologists and cardiologists were busy studying the effects of the new drug and some have written articles about it. University students and researchers are busy expanding the knowledge bank regarding this new miracle drug that can cure hundreds of thousands of men suffering from impotence. Journalists, on the other hand, are busy writing articles and jokes about the latest creation of Pfizer. In a few years, the blue pill has invaded the world and many men were very delighted. During the early days of the market boom, many people buy Viagra in authorized drug stores and medical sales representatives.
While Pfizer seem to have dominated the lucrative anti-impotency medicine market, a new rival appeared. Eli Lilly and Company, a drug company based in the United States, released Cialis and it was also celebrated in the medical communities and the journalists’ world. After some years, the European drug makers (Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline, and Schering-Plough) launched Levitra in the market. The two American pills and the European pill are all PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitors and they all function similarly. Thus, one can say that the Americans buy Viagra and Cialis, and the Europeans buy Levitra.
Among the three, Cialis is slowly gaining more users because of its longer half-life of 17.5 hours. Compared with Viagra, Cialis was able to penetrate the market discreetly and there is no damaging news yet about the use of this medicine from Eli Lilly and Company. While the makers of Viagra are busy with their counter attacks against the vicious stories, Cialis is slowly taking over places where the blue-pill was once popular.
